Fish Fry Recipe – A Crispy and Flavorful Indian Delight
Fish Fry is a popular Indian dish made with marinated fish fillets that are coated in a spicy mixture and shallow fried until crispy. It’s often served as a starter or side dish with rice or roti.
Ingredients
For Marination:
Fish fillets (any firm fish like pomfret or tilapia): 500g
Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tbsp
Red chili powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder: 1 tsp
Cumin powder: 1/2 tsp
Garam masala: 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice: 1 tbsp
Rice flour: 1 tbsp (optional for crispiness)
Salt: to taste
For Frying:
Oil: for shallow frying
Fresh coriander leaves: for garnish
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Fish
In a bowl, mix ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lemon juice, rice flour, and salt to form a paste.
Coat the fish fillets with the marinade and set aside for 30-45 minutes.
Step 2: Heat the Oil
Heat oil in a shallow frying pan over medium heat. You need enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: Fry the Fish
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated fish fillets in the pan.
Fry the fish on each side for about 3-4 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
Be gentle while flipping to avoid breaking the fish fillets
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
Remove the fried fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges.
